Waiting for Mickey’s Fun Factory (Photos by Steve Levine & Diane Feyrer) Recently, the Garden City Community Church sponsored a fun annual picnic for all members and guests. It was a chance for everyone to come together in fellowship, but to also observe the commissioning of the annual Mission Trip participants during the church service. During the service the third graders received their Bibles and the Sunday School teachers were given a public thank you as well.

The picnic was held on the church grounds and on Whitehall Boulevard, with the gracious approval of neighbors. The street was closed to allow the church to spread out all the activities. The Board of Christian Education, headed by Christina Milone, organized the food and many fun fellowship-oriented activities for approximately 100 people. Sandwiches, hot dogs and a pot luck selection of salads, snacks and desserts were served. Board member, Diane Feyrer said, “New this year, was a giant slide and bouncy castle. The traditional favorite water balloon toss and tug-of-war were also hits.”

Face painting with Samantha Tiger & friend The annual Mission Trip was organized by the team leaders. This year’s trip was to Rutland, Vermont July 11th to 16th. A total of 60 people went. 40 were teens and young adults, with 20 adults.

The church would like to thank the Board of Christian Education, and especially Donna Mongiardo, Diane Feyrer, Beth Schroeder and Chair, Christina Milone for their help with the picnic coordination and set-up. It was a beautiful afternoon celebrating a wonderful youth program and church school year.
