Historical Society Flea Market Saturday
The Garden City Historical Society Flea Market takes place this Saturday, June 12, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Historical Society Museum, 109 Eleventh Street. The Flea Market will have over 20 vendors, offering jewelry, antiques, furniture, and an array of interesting items, and the Society’s consignment shop, the A.T. Stewart Exchange will be open with its unique selection of one-of-a-kind pieces and antiques. All proceeds from the Flea Market benefit The Garden City Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Refreshments will be served at “Cornelia’s Café and Confectionary,” under the old locust tree on the west side of the museum. Proceeds of the café will establish a scholarship fund. The Garden City Historical Society plans to begin an annual scholarship program, and present its first scholarship to a graduating Garden City high school senior in 2011.
During the Flea Market, visitors are invited to tour the Historical Society museum, one of the original 1872 A.T. Stewart-era “Apostle Houses,” and stop in at the Museum Gift Shop for purchases of items reflecting our village’s past.
