Garden City Public Schools - Behind-the-Scenes: Employee Spotlight
The Transportation Department
This month’s Behind-the-Scenes: Employee Spotlight is focused on the entire staff of the Garden City Public Schools’ Transportation Department, an appropriate choice, as the week of May 17th was School Transportation Personnel Appreciation Week. May 17th - 21st was designated to celebrate the fine work and dedication demonstrated all year by school bus drivers, mechanics, attendants, dispatchers, and supervisors who work with such commitment toward the safety and comfort of the students.
The Garden City Public Schools Transportation Department coordinates transportation of approximately 3,700 students throughout the district and to private schools every day of the school year. Each morning buses depart the district’s bus garage on Cherry Valley Avenue and transport students to their schools. In the afternoon, 52 bus routes carry the students safely home to their parents.
Pictured here are members of Garden City Public School’s Transportation Department to whom the district would like to extend a special thank you for their daily efforts and extraordinary record of service on behalf of our children. Transportation supervisor David Murphy also expressed his gratitude: “A special thank you to all of the employees for their dedication and hard work seeing to the transportation needs and safety of the students and families of Garden City.”
