This marks the annual countdown to the opening of the Pool on June 12th. Please read the edition of “Splash” and familiarize yourself with all of the special events that are planned for the Pool as well as all the membership categories. All pool applications should be mailed to the Garden City Pool, 52 Cherry Valley Avenue, Garden City, New York 11530, their phone number at the Pool Office is 483-1714. VILLAGE TAX BILLS

The Village mailed tax bills earlier this week to residents and their banks. The first half of Village taxes are due during the month of June and will be delinquent and subject to a penalty if payment is not made by July 1st.

If you have a question , please call the Tax Department at Village Hall at 465-4156 between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

WATER RATES INCREASED

Following extensive discussion and consideration, during the preparation of the Incorporated Village’s 2010/2011 budget, at the April 15th Board of Trustees meeting, the Board increased the water rates effective June 1st. As residents are aware, the water budget is funded solely by revenue derived by its consumers, not from the general Village taxes. The increase of approximately 5%* is necessary due to the extensive capital project investments made in adding treatment facilities to our system in order to assure the delivery of pure water to our residents.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETINGS

The next Board of Trustees Meeting will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2010. The meeting dates for the summer will be as follows: July 15 and August 19. The meetings will be held in the Board Room at Village Hall and will begin at 8:00 p.m.

VILLAGE’S WEB SITE

I encourage residents to periodically utilize the Village’s website for information regarding the Village’s operations, as well as items of seasonal and special interest. The address is www.gardencityny.net. One item that is listed on the Village’s home page under the Heading of Administration is a sub-heading “Water Billing Information” which includes information on water reading.
