“Smoking Cessation: You Can Do It!”

As part of its “Perspectives in Health” educational series, Winthrop-University Hospital will offer a free lecture, “Smoking Cessation: You Can Do It!” on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 7:00 PM. The program will be held at Winthrop’s Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard, at the corner of Second Street in Mineola.

Peter Spiegler, MD, Director of Respiratory Therapy and Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Winthrop, will provide an overview of the myths and facts of quitting, as well as discuss different methods that can help people stop smoking. “Even if people have had several failed attempts, they can still quit,” said Dr. Spiegler.

Mara Bernstein, Licensed Respiratory Therapist, will be available to explain and answer questions about Winthrop’s Smoking Cessation Program.

Attendees are asked to arrive for registration at 6:45 PM and to park in the rear of the building. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. To reserve a space, please call (516) 663-8300.
