The GCAA Intramural Basketball March Madness Playoffs started March 1st and concluded action on Championship Saturday with all GCAA older divisions playing their championship games at St. Paul’s on March 13th. The day started with 2 girls championship games (4-5 girls and 6-8 girls) at 11:00 and ended with the 5-6 boys game at 4:00. Congratulations to the following teams on their championships.

3rd Grade Boys- Nuggets

4th Grade Boys- Lakers

4-5 Grade Girls- Shock

5-6 Grade Boys - Knicks

6-8 Grade Girls- Stars

7-8 Grade Boys- Nuggets/Celtics (co-champs based upon regular season)

The brackets below illustrate the start to finish results of these hotly contested playoff games. Please look for detailed articles about each championship game in other sections of this edition of the GC News. The regular GCAA season was fun but the playoffs took the excitement to another level. The 4-5 girls final was decided by 2 points in overtime while the boys 3rd grade final was decided by 2 points in double overtime. Immediately following these two overtime games was the 4th boys final ending in a 2 point margin in regulation. The 6-8 girls and 5-6 boys were decided by slightly more than 2 points but nevertheless the games were close and competitive throughout.

GCAA definitely plans to organize a 7-8 boys division once again as well as a 2nd grade boys division that has teams, rosters, coaches and plays games.
