In the early afternoon hours of Wednesday, March 10th, Garden City Firefighters were called to assist the Williston Park Fire Department with a 3rd Alarm house fire on William Street. Garden City Firefighters responded to the scene with an engine along with a crew of 6 firefighters. Williston Park firefighters encountered a large volume of fire in the private home on arrival. Due to the age of the home, there was rapid fire extension to all floors of the house. Extensive mutual aid was requested to assist including Garden City’s Bravest. Garden City firefighters, under the direction of Assistant Chief Joseph Nadolny and Captain Brian Gallo, stretched an additional hoseline into the structure. In addition, the crew also assisted with labor intensive truck operations to check for fire extension.

According to Assistant Chief Nadolny, “It’s a great example of neighbors helping neighbors. We are glad we were able to help them out.” Assisting on the crew were Ex-Chief Len Rivera, Firefighter Dave Hroncich, Firefighter Mike Morgan, Firefighter Kristian Sorensen, and Firefighter Adam Glianna. Other departments that assisted included departments from Mineola, East Williston, Albertson and Roslyn.
