Gerry SieversGerry Sievers The Garden City Historical Society, in conjunction with The Committee to Save St. Paul’s (CSSP), has prepared a video entitled, “Save St. Paul’s Now: Protect Garden City’s DNA.” The video features speakers at the two 2009 St. Paul’s Forums presented by the Historical Society, including remarks by Emmy Award winning performer and Garden City resident Susan Lucci and others who gave their insights as to the building’s significance and possibilities for the future. The video also includes interior and exterior views with narrative about historic relevance.

The St. Paul’s video was produced by videographer, Gerry Sievers, who attended both forums. Residents are able to view the video on the Historical Society homepage, www.gardencityhistoricalsociety.org, and on the “News” page of CSSP’s website, www.savestpauls.org. Copies are available and can be sent to Garden City residents free of charge upon request in the hopes that the video will be shared with friends and neighbors. The historic St. Paul’s School is an imprint of Garden City’s DNA, part of the foundation and prosperity of Garden City as a planned community, commissioned by founder A.T. Stewart’s widow, Cornelia, and a symbol of the Village for nearly 130 years. The building is included in Garden City’s elementary school students’ “community” curriculum, and the subject of images in drawings and photographs submitted by students of all ages, K-12, to the Historical Society’s annual Children’s Juried Art Contest.

The Garden City Historical Society strongly urges all Garden City residents to support the preservation of St. Paul’s for future use.
