Marion Klupka Awarded Bishop’s Medal
On February 14, Marion Klupka, second from right, received the Bishop’s Medal from the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island for distinguished service to Christ Episcopal Church, Garden City. From L-R: are Senior Warden Carol Mangels, Father Park Bodie, Mrs. Klupka and Junior Warden Sally Richmond.
Marion Ethel Klupka, a parishioner at Christ Episcopal Church in Garden City for more than fifty years, was awarded the Bishop’s Medal from the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island for her devoted service to her parish. She received the medal on St. Valentine’s Day which was appropriate in light of her loving family and parish family surrounding her.
Marion and her late husband John raised their three children at Christ Church and sang in the choir for forty years. She has also devoted as many years to Alter Guild. She has been a Eucharistic Minister for over twenty years and during recent months has led the congregation in Morning Prayer. Her son John Klupka, a Garden City resident, has been a Warden and member of the Vestry and her grandson now sings in the choir. She is active in many church activities and outreach projects and serves on the Vestry. Congratulations to a truly deserving lady.
