Breast Cancer: The Genetics Connection
Two experts on genetics - Dr. Diane Esposito and Dr. David Hyman - will offer the latest information on genetics and breast cancer, including genetic alterations in tumor cells that can guide medical treatment, changes that we see in breast cancer genomes and tumor progression, and what people need to think about when considering genetic testing. The forum, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Wednesday, May 26, at 7 pm at Adelphi University’s Alumni House, 154 Cambridge Avenue, Garden City.
Dr. Esposito is a researcher at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, where she has focused on gene mutations that are often seen in cancers. After receiving her Ph.D. in genetics/cell biology from Fordham University, Dr. Esposito did her Postdoctoral Research in the Department of Somatic Cell Genetics at Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research.
Dr. David Hyman is a clinical geneticist in private practice at The Genetics Center in Smithtown. He completed a fellowship in Human Genetics at Yale University School of Medicine following a residency in Pediatrics at the Yale-New Haven Hospital. He is Board Certified in pediatrics, clinical genetics and clinical biochemical/molecular genetics
