Bestselling Author To Speak At Resurrection
Author Philip Yancey
“Most of my struggles in the Christian life circle around the same two themes: why God doesn’t act the way we want God to, and why I don’t act the way God wants me to. Prayer is the precise point where those themes converge.” This quote taken from Philip Yancey’s latest book, Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference?, will be a major theme in an upcoming special event hosted by Resurrection Lutheran Church in Garden City.
Internationally recognized author Philip Yancey will be the keynote speaker, Saturday, April 10, for the Spring Outreach event at Resurrection, when all are invited to hear the special presentation on the subject of “Prayer” and meet the author. Among his published works, Yancey has written books that address challenging topics in the Christian faith, including What’s So Amazing About Grace?, The Jesus I Never Knew, Disappointment with God, and Where Is God When It Hurts? Copies of Yancey’s many bestselling titles will be available for purchase, which guests may bring to the book-signing session.
Rev. Jeff Browning, pastor at Resurrection, said, “We are thrilled that an author of Mr. Yancey’s renown will be speaking at Resurrection. I’m sure that it will be quite an event.”
Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for registration in Resurrection’s gym; enter through the Emmet Place side of the building. Coffee and tea will be available, as well as a Book Table where guests may purchase any of a number of Yancey’s best-selling books. Following the presentation, guests will have the opportunity to meet Mr. Yancey and ask him to sign copies of his books. Light refreshments will be served.
Tickets are required; $10 per person in advance, or $12 at the door. Phone the church office, 516.746.4426, to reserve your place at the event. Space is limited, so we encourage all to reserve early.
