Garden City Public Schools - Behind-the-Scenes: Employee Spotlight
MaryLee Marigliano
This month’s Behind-the-Scenes: Employee Spotlight is focused on Ms. MaryLee Marigliano, Guidance Department secretary at Garden City Middle School.
Mrs. Marigliano began her career in the Garden City school district in 1991 as a clerical substitute and worked as a teacher aide in 1998 - 1999, until her appointment as a full-time typist clerk in the middle school’s Guidance Department in 1999. MaryLee was selected for this distinction by Garden City Middle School principal Dr. Peter Osroff in cooperation with the middle school staff.
“Above and beyond is her middle name,” commented guidance counselor Vincent Tumminello. “She is cordial, caring, and enthusiastic in every situation. MaryLee treats every person who comes into the Guidance Department office with a smile and a helpfulness that often goes beyond the position.” Fellow guidance counselors Robyn Weiner and Michelle Ingoglia concur: “She does everything with a smile and never complains. She takes care of us like family and loves the children. MaryLee makes our life so much easier” (Robin); “Students, parents and staff feel welcomed and comfortable visiting our offices because she sets the tone. With all that she does, she never misses a beat. She is always there with a smile and kind word. Plain and simple, our school would not be the same without her! These words seem so inadequate - it’s hard to communicate how remarkable MaryLee is - and how she impacts the entire school on a daily basis. I cannot think of a more deserving person for this recognition” (Michelle). And from school psychologist Nancy Mannion, “She goes out of her way to help staff and is incredibly kind to students and parents. She makes the Guidance Department a home to everyone and sets a welcoming tone for all.” Social worker Noreen Bonagura also felt MaryLee was deserving of this distinction: “She is always so upbeat and positive and is a true asset to this school. She makes me smile each day!!! It has been my pleasure to work with her for all these years and I feel that she is more than deserving of this recognition.”
MaryLee Marigliano is a true asset to the students and staff of the Garden City Middle School. The district and staff of the middle school extend a sincere thank you to MaryLee for all her contributions in helping to make the middle school such a special learning environment!
