GC Students Selected For Empire Girls State Program

2010-03-12 / School

Pictured here with Garden City Public Schools social studies curriculum coordinator Jeanette Balantic (left), and high school principal Nanine Cuttitta (right) are this year’s delegates to the American Legion Auxiliary Empire Girl State Program (left to right): Kate Butcher (alternate), Emily Winchurch and Christine Codignotto. Emily and Christine will travel to SUNY Brockport from June 27 - July 3, 2010 (with Kate serving as an alternate) to participate in the 2010 legislative session where, along with 358 other girls from across the state, will form a “51st state.” Selected by members of Garden City’s William Bradford Turner Auxiliary Unit after an extensive interview, the girls will have the opportunity to campaign for office and spearhead issues with 358 other girls from across New York State during the event.

The school district would like to express its thanks to Sarah Iannacone, President, and Joan Nadelka, Auxilliary President, American Legion Auxiliary, for providing our students with this outstanding opportunity!
