Ronald Tacchi George T. Laboda

George T. Laboda, a long-time resident of Lake Worth, FL and formerly of Garden City and Mattituck, NY, passed away quietly and peacefully on Friday night in his apartment with his family around him after a sudden illness. George had a wonderful 90 years since being born to Thomas and Emilie Laboda on October 7, 1919, in the Bronx, NY. He graduated from Columbia University in New York City and served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1946, being stationed at Mitchell Field on Long Island, NY, and rising to the rank of Tech Sergeant on Honolulu and ending his service on Guam in 1946. George was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth Carolyn (Emig) of Mineola, NY, and by his son Ron, of New York City. He is survived by his loving and devoted companion of fourteen years, Roseanne McElroy, his sister Emilia McCusker of Vermont, his son Thomas (his wife, Rosa) of Plantation, FL, his son Lawrence of Bentonville, NC, his daughter Kathy (her husband, Jim) of Mattituck NY, and his son Richard (his wife, Joan) of Hernando, FL, as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Our dad was an avid golfer, and always said he made more business deals on the golf course than he did in his office as Director of Media for Colgate-Palmolive. He rubbed elbows with the likes of Frank Sinatra and John Wayne and countless other celebrities in the early days of television and was well-respected by them all. Dad was a firm believer in giving back and has been a supporter of the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Grandfather Home for Children in Banner Elk, NC, and is a Founder of the Kravis Center in Palm Beach, FL. As a lasting tribute to our Mother, Ruth, he established the Ruth C. Laboda Foundation to continue their legacy of helping others and furthering the arts. We will deeply miss our Dad and cherish the memories he has left us. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to DORSEY-E. EARL SMITHMEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME3041 KIRK ROADLAKE WORTH, FL 33461
