Ukrainian Culture Exhibit

Ukrainian Culture will be exhibited in the Garden City Public Library’s showcases from April 1-28, 2010 located at 60 Seventh St., Garden City, NY. Marika Soltys of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America will loan a beautiful collection showing traditional and contemporary handmade crafts. Enjoy seeing colorful Ukrainian Easter eggs (pysanky) created with exquisite detail as well as a traditional Easter basket. Embroidered linens and clothing plus decorative wood carved pieces such as candleholders and plates will also be on view.

Exhibits are FREE and open to the public during regular library hours.

The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America is a not-for-profit educational corporation founded in 1940 consisting of the majority of Ukrainian American cultural, youth, veteran, educational and other organizations, and is an effective spokesman for the cultural and other aspirations of the Ukrainian people. With nearly 75 active Chapters throughout the USA, the UCCA serves as an ambassador for democracy, civic values, equality and, foremost, Ukraine’s national sovereignty and independence. The Long Island Chapter in Hempstead, NY, was formed more than 60 years ago.
