“On Monday, March 22, 2010, I, along with the Long Island Blood Services, will host my annual blood drive in Garden City. The Blood Drive will be located in the parking lot between 200 & 400 Garden City Plaza, from 10:45am - 4:45pm. The rest of the details and eligibility criteria are listed below.

Without the help of donations, area hospitals will not have enough blood to meet their patients’ demands. It is critical that all who can give blood do so as soon as possible.

Traditionally, blood is in short supply during winter months. A shortage of donated blood represents a serious public health crisis for our area. If you or anyone you know is eligible to give blood, please consider attending the upcoming blood drive.

Blood donors save countless lives every day. Giving blood today may save the life of a child, parent or grandparent tomorrow. It is time for Long Islanders to come together and do their part to make sure all types of blood will be available to our hospitals and clinics.”

Eligibility Criteria:

• ID with signature or photo

• Minimum weight 110 lbs.

• Age 16 - 75 (16 year olds must have parental permission. Age 76 and over need doctor’s note)

• Eat well (low fat) & drink fluids

• No tattoos for the past 12 months
