News From The Children’s Room Read to a Dog at the Library

This fun program featuring Bideawee gives children the opportunity to read to a dog. The program is open to Garden City residents only for children in Grades 1-5 and will be held Tuesday, March 30 at 1:00PM. Registration begins Saturday, March 20 at 9:00AM on Eventkeeper.

Grammy-Nominated Children’s Musician Brady Rymer

The talented Brady Rymer, a Grammy- nominated musician, will give a performance open to the entire family. The show will be held Wednesday, March 31 at 11:00AM. Ticket Distribution begins Saturday, March 20 at 9:00AM. This performance is limited to Garden City residents.

Dr. Seuss’s Birthday

Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s Birthday this month!! Come by the Children’s Room and check out our book display celebrating the birthday of this wonderful children’s book author and his timeless work. Feel free to browse or borrow one of our Dr. Seuss books, whether it be The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, or Oh, the Places You’ll Go! - plus many more!

St. Patrick’s Day

Come by the Children’s Room and see the St. Patrick’s Day book display! Our display includes picture books and non-fiction books about St. Patrick and St. Patrick’s Day as well as fun books about leprechauns. The display also includes many Irish folktales as well as books about the history and culture of Ireland. Feel free to browse the display and borrow a book to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

Women’s History Month

This month the Children’s Room is celebrating Women’s History Month with a book display dedicated to fascinating women throughout history. Read about women’s rights activist Susan B. Anthony, the heroic abolitionist Harriet Tubman, or political leader Hilary Clinton. Some other interesting women you can e read about include writer Laura Ingalls Wilder, soccer star Mia Hamm, television personality and media mogul Oprah Winfrey, pilot Amelia Earhart, artist Georgia O’Keefe, and Egyptian Queen Cleopatra.

Please check the Library website www.gardencitypl.org for upcoming events and registration dates. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
