8th graders during the closing song of their prayer service St. Joseph School was all about celebrating excellence in Catholic Education during the first week of February as parents, teachers, students and special guests all got in on the act of seeing the “Dividends for Life” that Catholic Schools deliver. After the celebration of Curriculum Sunday, the school week opened with a joint Kindergarten - 8th grade prayer service and moved into the annual 6th - 8th grade Math Bee and 3rd - 5th grade Spelling Bee. The school had a very special and much needed blessing of the throats for St. Blaise Day and the older students paired up with the younger students for “Buddy Up” Day, complete with crafts and special treats. The P.T.A. sponsored an ice cream sundae dessert after lunch one afternoon and the wildly popular Game Show returned to SJS. Assemblyman Tom McKevitt, a welcome visitor in the school, game by to watch a few rounds of the game show, and Carol Geddis spoke at the annual Parent Information Night on the importance of internet safety, highlighting many of the topics the students has learned in their sessions with her and our 5th graders lead the First Friday Mass.
