ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE - MARCH 7

The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Long Island, organized by the Irish-American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, Inc., will be held in Garden City on Sunday, March 7, 2010.

The parade will assemble at 12 Noon in the parking field opposite Ninth Street and will step off at 1 p.m. proceeding north on Franklin Avenue. The parade route will be from Ninth Street, north on Franklin Avenue to Old Country Road, east on Old Country Road to County Seat Drive, south on County Seat Drive where the parade will disband. The reviewing stand will be on Old Country Road in front of the Nassau County Office Building.

VILLAGE HALL BLOOD DRIVE

The Long Island Blood Services, in conjunction with the employees at Village Hall, will be holding a Blood Drive on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the second floor meeting room of the Fire Department Headquarters Building on Stewart Avenue. The need for blood has again reached a critical level so please consider donating.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES WORK SESSIONS

The Board of Trustees will be conducting a work session to review the proposed 2010/11 Operating/Capital Budgets on Monday, March 8th 7:00 p.m. This session will be held in the Board Room at Village Hall and is conducted in public and will provide for limited public participation.

VILLAGE ELECTION - TUESDAY, MARCH 16, 2010

The annual Village Election will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 12 Noon until 9:00 p.m. at Village Hall, 351 Stewart Avenue. Village residents will be voting for the following candidates:

Donald T. Brudie Trustee - 2 year Term

John J. Watras Trustee - 2 year term

Nicholas P. Episcopia Trustee - 2 year term

Brian C. Daughney Trustee - 2 year term

Since the incorporation of the Village in 1919, members of the Board of Trustees in Garden City have been elected by a non-partisan vote of residents in accordance with the policies of the Community Agreement.

ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATIONS

If a qualified voter is not going to be in the Village to vote in the General Village Election on March 16, 2010, they may apply for an absentee Ballot. These applications are available at the Village Hall, 351 Stewart Avenue. According to New York State Election Law, applications must be received by the Village Clerk by March 9th if the ballot is to be mailed. A qualified voter may come in to Village Hall in person to apply for an application up until March 15th. If the Village Clerk deems that the absence is justifiable, they will be given an absentee ballot at that time. BOARD OF TRUSTEES’ MEETING SCHEDULE

The next regularly scheduled Board of Trustees’ meeting will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at 8:00 p.m.
