Nutrition & Breast Cancer: Sorting Fact From Fiction
A free workshop, Nutrition & Breast Cancer: Sorting Fact from Fiction, is offered to those who have had breast cancer, on Tuesday, March 16, from 7 to 8:30 pm. The workshop, sponsored by the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program, is held at University Center, Adelphi University, Garden City.
At the workshops, Jessica Iannotta, RD, a clinicial dietician, will discuss how diet is related to breast cancer. She will explore foods and nutrients that have received attention in the media and help sort through this often confusing information. Participants will find out how to interpret food labels, discover new tips to plan meals and learn the latest information that will help to promote overall good health and control weight.
Ms. Iannotta, is certified as specialist in oncology nutrition. She studied at Cornell University and completed her internship at New York-Presbyterian Cornell Medical Center. She has a special interest in the role of nutrition and diet as it pertains to prevention of cancer and chronic disease.
The workshop, open only to those who have had breast cancer, will be held at Adelphi University’s Alumni House, 154 Cambridge Avenue in Garden City. Pre-registration is required. Call 516-877-4325.
