Beware And Be Wary

It’s always open season for scam artists to prey on seniors. They are busy cooking up ways to steal from us the little we have. We should be cautious and guard against:

• Phone Telemaketing - Hang up. Never give social security, credit card or bank account numbers over the phone.

• Mail Order purchases - Know your supplier. Never send cash. Do not accept damaged or open merchandise.

•Unsolicited Contractors - Don’t open the door. Don’t listen. Don’t let them into the house.

• Phony charities - There are millions of people in need and many worthwhile causes. some of the charities who claim to support them are scams. Check with the New York State Attorney General’s Charities Bureau to determine whether the organization is registered.

• Identity Theft - By far the most important area to guard against With the high tech equipment available today, identity theft has reached a one per minute average. Shred all papers that contain your name, address and other important information that may be useful to a identity theft person.

It Is All Up To You.

We Cannot Be Too Careful.
