The Colonel Aaron Ogden Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American revolution, will hold its Annual Philanthropic Luncheon on Friday, April 9th at fabulous Westbury Manor. Speaker at the luncheon will be Dr. Natalie Naylor, Professor Emeritus of Hofstra University. Her topic will be “ Surviving the Ordeal: Long Island Women during the American Revolution”. This year’s honoree is long time chapter member Betty Dreyhaupt, current New York NSDAR State Librarian. Betty has held numerous posts for the organization, and is past Regent of the Garden City based chapter, which is now in it’s 80th year of existence.

Monies raised at the luncheon go to support DAR philanthropies, such as student scholarships, schools for the disadvantaged, and historic preservation.

Social hour begins at 11:30am. This includes butler passed hors d’ouevres, and a generous cold display of food which includes a selection of cheeses, breads, crudites, fruit and pasta. Luncheon follows, with a pear and gorgonzola salad, and a choice of entree (grilled salmon, chicken or pasta primavera). This is topped by the Manor Sundae ( lady fingers and vanilla ice-cream) and a table display of fresh fruit for dessert. Finish ( if you can!!) with coffee,tea, cappuccino or espresso.

The Chapter looks forward to repeating the success of last year’s luncheon, which generated so much favorable comment regarding the English country setting and delicious food provided by Westbury Manor.
