A Time For Kids Presents: “Magic and Movement Under the Big Top”

This exciting program presented by Donna Green is for children ages 21/2 -5, along with a caregiver. The program will be held on Saturday, March 6 at either 9:30AM or 10:45AM. Registration is required and begins on Saturday, February 27 at 9:00AM on Eventkeeper. This program is for Garden City residents only.

Game Day

Join us on Saturday, March 6 as the Children’s Department hosts Game Day! We will be having all sorts of games for everyone to enjoy. Games will be held for children in Grades K-2 at 1:00PM and for children in Grades 3-5 at 2:30PM. No registration is required but this program is limited to Garden City residents.

Mother Goose Storytime, Session II

Our youngest patrons can join the Mother Goose program, for children ages 18 months - 29 months and an adult caregiver. This is a thirty minute introduction to storytime, featuring a few simple, brief stories, lots of rhymes and songs, and the occasional book based film. The focus is on parent and child interaction and participation. Registration began January 11th and is required and can be done in the Children’s Room. There are still openings for Session II.

Mother Goose Session II (October 2007-September 2008):

•Mondays at 10:00AM March 8, 15, 22, April 12, and 19.

•Thursdays at 10:00AM or 11:00AM March 11, 18, 25, April 8, and 15.

Chapter Chat

Chapter Chat is our introductory book discussion for second graders featuring games, a craft, and other book related fun. The second meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 4:00-4:45PM, in which we will be discussing Roscoe Riley Rules: Never Walk in Shoes that Talk by Katherine Applegate. Current second graders can sign up in the Children’s Room. Registration began on Monday, January 11.

The Super Book Bowl

Get ready for the spring sports season by reading sports fiction! The Super Book Bowl is The Book Ends’ second program for children presently in Grades 3-5 and will be held on Wednesday, March 10 at 5:30PM. There will be games and competitions based upon some great (or not so great) fictional teams as well as other activities and crafts. Bring a brown bag dinner. Children currently in Grades 3-5 can sign up in the Children’s Room. Registration began Monday, January 11.

Circulating Children’s Magazine Collection

The Garden City Children’s Room offers a diverse circulating collection of children’s periodicals that patrons are welcome to borrow and take home with them. Our collection includes magazines that cover a wide variety of topics. For children interested in sports, check out our issues of Sports Illustrated for Kids. Children can read the American Girl magazine for crafts, stories, games and advice on friendship, school, and fashion. Children can browse through Odyssey or Kids Discover to learn more about science or check out Highlights for stories, puzzles, and games. Children can also read our issues of Dig to learn more about history or National Geographic for Kids to learn more about the various cultures and geography of the world. For a more broad range of subjects, children can look through issues of Ask, which includes different articles on science, literature, art, and history. Visit the Children’s Room and check out these fun and informative magazines plus many more!

Please check the Library website www.gardencitypl.org for upcoming events and registration dates. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
