Adelphi President’s Gala Honors, Executives and Alumni

Adelphi University is pleased to host its tenth annual President’s Gala, an evening to benefit student scholarships. The event will take place on Saturday, March 20, at the Garden City Hotel. The black-tie gala will commence with cocktails at 7:00 p.m., and dinner served at 8:00 p.m. The event will honor four individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the University as well as the community.

About the honorees:

Anthony J. Bonomo, Esq., president and chief executive officer of Administrators for the Professions Inc. (AFP), will be recognized with the 2010 Outstanding Service to Adelphi award. Mr. Bonomo joined AFP in 1986, serving as assistant general counsel before becoming vice president for legal and legislative affairs. In 1995, he was named president of the organization, and ascended to his current position as chief executive officer in 2006. Mr. Bonomo has been a featured speaker on medical malpractice issues and legislation, and leads a staff of more than 300 in Roslyn, New York. He has served as a trustee of Hofstra University, commissioner of the Long Island Power Authority, commissioner of the New York State Parks Bureau (Long Island Regions), and founder of the GAELS Foundation, which is dedicated to the development of youth through sports. He is married to Maryellen and has three children; Anthony, Jr., Julianne, and Jaclyn. He received his B.A. and J.D. degrees from St. John’s University.

Robert A. Isaksen, Long Island market president of Bank of America will be honored as the 2010 Outstanding Long Island Executive. In addition to his responsibilities as Long Island market president, he is also the product delivery senior manager for Bank of America’s Healthcare and Institutions group covering the Northeast markets. Before Bank of America’s merger with Fleet Bank, Mr. Isaksen was the senior team leader for Fleet’s Metro New York Healthcare and Institutions group focusing on healthcare providers and all other not-for-profits located in New York City, Long Island, and the northern suburbs.

Along with his corporate roles, Mr. Isaksen has served on the boards for the Long Island Association, Mather Hospital, United Way, and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s Corporate Advisory Board, among others. Mr. Isaksen lives in Setauket, New York with his wife, twin sons, and daughter. He graduated with a B.A. in business economics from the State University of New York at Oneonta in 1981, and received his M.B.A. from Pace University’s Lubin Graduate School of Business in 1987.

Erna S. Lovely M.A. ‘65, will be honored with the 2010 Lifetime Service to Adelphi award. A generous supporter of the University, she has contributed to the Campaign for Adelphi University as recognized by the Charles H. Levermore Society and the Ruth S. Harley Society. In 2005, she and her husband established “The Thomas and Richard Lovely Scholarship,” which was named after their sons and is awarded each year to an outstanding Garden City High School senior who will attend Adelphi. In addition to her commitment to her family and alma mater, Mrs. Lovely has also provided longstanding service to her community, as chair of Mercy Hospital’s Golf and Tennis Tournament and member of Nassau Community College’s Board of Trustees. Mrs. Lovely received her B.A. from the University of Michigan, and after beginning her career at the Sperry Gyroscope Company, she went on to earn her M.A. in elementary education from Adelphi in 1965.

Christopher Saridakis B.A. ‘90, senior vice president and chief digital officer of Gannett Co., will be named the 2010 Outstanding Alumnus. Mr. Saridakis has held the position of senior vice president and chief digital officer for Gannett Co., Inc. since January 2008. He plays a vital role in the company’s market leading strategy and is chief architect in product development and cross-divisional partnerships. In 2005, he was appointed chief executive officer of PointRoll, and prior to that, Mr. Saridakis was senior vice president and general manager of the Global Tech Solutions division for DoubleClick, Inc.
