Trojans Advance To Girls Basketball Semifinal

See this photo at www.Newsphoto.com Next Tuesday evening at Freeport High School, Garden City’s girls basketball team will face Lynbrook in a Nassau semifinal game. To get to that point the No. 2 Trojans had a decisive 70-42 quarterfinal victory over the Roslyn Bulldogs on Tuesday evening February 16th. Junior Barbara Sullivan had 23 points, nine rebounds and a career-high eight assists against Roslyn. Diana Leondis added 27 points and six assists. Sullivan, Leondis and Kim Ryan (13 points) each hit four three-pointers for the Trojans on the way to the victory. Also scoring for the Trojans were: Katie Trimmer (5 points, 12 rebounds) and Elizabeth Stutzmann (2 points). Leading the scoring for Roslyn was Samantha Richman with 13 points. Also scoring for the Bulldogs: Stefanie Klapper (12), Amanda Levy (9), Lauren Kobrick (4), Mariel Chase (2) and Nina Hadzibabic (2).
