A Word From The Publisher
With last week’s blizzard reduced to slowly melting mounds of snow, and the end of February in sight, we can hope that the majority of the winter weather is now behind us. While the Village got off lightly in terms of overtime cleanup costs during January, it got pretty socked in February. Maybe March will be kinder (we hope).
The roads in Garden City seemed to be in good shape after the storm, considering the amount of snow. Special thanks are due to the firefighters who stayed all night to man the firehouse the night of the blizzard. There were several minor alarms that night, but had there been any very serious calls it’s nice to know that they would have been there to respond.
As requested by Trustee Episcopia at the Board meeting, it’s very important for homeowners with fire hydrants on their property to take the time to clear them of snow after storms. The extra time needed to dig out a hydrant could literally be life or death.
