Arrest For Vandalism To Cars

Garden City Police Chief Ernest Cipullo has announced the arrest of Long Beach resident Alan Gershberg on February 18th for eight counts of criminal mischief for allegedly doing $45,000 worth of damage to victims’ vehicles.

According to police, beginning in early 2009 Garden City residents began to experience inordinate amounts of damage to vehicles parked in driveways. Additional damages occurred in late 2009 to the same victims. Garden City Detective Sargeant Bartkowski and Detectives Madden and Rothermel reviewed the criminal reports and determined that the victims were all employees of the same company. The Nassau County Police Intelligence Section also found additional victims who worked for the company.

Garden City Police say that further investigation led them to Gershberg, who was a former employee of the company. According to police, during his employment he harbored a grudge against other employees and in 2009 developed a target list of 15 employees and began to exact revenge.

Assisting in the investigation were detectives from Nassau County’s 3rd, 6th and 1st Squads along with detectives from NYPD Midtown South.
