Amateur Astronomer To Speak At Community Club
The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead is pleased to announce that Amateur Astronomer Bill Bradley will be the guest speaker at the Club’s March General Program to be held at the Garden City Casino at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. All members and guests are cordially invited to attend. This enlightening program titled “Celestial Highlights” will be accompanied by a slide presentation featuring photos taken by Mr. Bradley of the skies above us.
Mr. Bradley is passionate about the science of astronomy and astrophotography. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Amateur Observers Society of New York (AOSNY.Org) and has been a member of the Astronomical League, (AL) for the past ten years. He is an ardent activist against light pollution here on Long Island and in the state of New York. Mr. Bradley has done astronomy presentations at many local high schools and in his spare time does volunteer work with Hofstra University helping to run its astronomy outreach programs which are sponsored by a grant from NASA, and include the “Stars in Parks” and “Music Under the Stars” shows.
