Girls Basketball Has A Special Night

February 4th was a special night at Garden City High School as seniors Diana Leondis and Amalia DeBrosse played their final regular season home basketball game for the Trojans. Leondis, a five year starter and DeBrosse, who has been on the varsity team for four years were honored in a pre-game ceremony before the start of the game against the New Hyde Park Lady Gladiators. The Trojans led 17-7 after the first quarter and never looked back on their way to a 49-31 victory. Leading the scoring for GC was Barbara Sullivan with 22 points, followed by Kim Ryan (20), Amalia DeBrosse (2), Elizabeth Stutzmann (2), Julia Kiffel (2) and Jess Stein (1). Christina Mangels had 10 rebounds in the win. Leading the scoring for New Hyde Park was Ciara McCullagh with 15 points, followed by: Maria Katsoulis (6), Jaclyn Triptree (4), Lexie Pevarara (2), Shelby Platia (2) and Gabriella Tomasini (2).
