Eric Coners Breaks Down After a near snow storm cancelled the scheduled County Qualifiers this past weekend, the Garden City Varsity Wrestling team travelled to Massapequa this Monday evening to compete well into the night. Coming up against Hicksville, Westbury, Jericho, Lynbrook and the powerhouse wrestling teams from Massapequa and Seaford, the Garden City team had quite a few obstacles to overcome. The boys who placed from 1st to 4th in the Qualifiers are invited to compete at the Counties, which will be held at Hofstra University on February 13th and 14th, starting at 9:30 a.m. There is a dual component to the Qualifiers tournament as it is comprised of team scores in addition to individual scores within the wrestlers’ respective weight brackets. Coming in at Second Place, Garden City had an impressive team result. In the individual category, the results were even better. The Garden City team had TWELVE boys who “placed” and will compete at Hofstra. Within those results, Garden City boys earned three Golds (1st Place), one Silver (2nd Place) and three bronzes (Third Place). Listed below are the team and individual results:
