Christine Poisson, a freshman at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester. To be eligible for this honor, a student must be registered for at least 12 academic credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Christopher Theobalt a first year student at the College of the Holy Cross, has been named to the Dean’s List for the first semester of the 2009-10 academic year.

He is the son of Rory and Fred Theobalt of Garden City. He majors in Political Science.

The University of Scranton has announced its Dean’s List, which recognizes students for academic excellence during the 2009 fall semester. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours to make the Dean’s List. The list includes students from the College of Arts and Sciences, the Kania School of Management, the Panuska College of Professional Studies and the College of Graduate and Continuing Education. More than 1,300 students were named to the Jesuit university’s Dean’s List, including the following area residents:

Brigid Fee, a senior Health Education Certification major from Garden City, was named to the President’s List at SUNY Cortland for the Fall 2009 semester.

Honorees must earn a grade point average of 3.7 or higher (A-) on a 4.0 scale in each of their classes. They must have completed 12 or more credit hours of classes during the semester with at least eight of the credits for a standard letter grade and no incomplete grades received for the semester.

Kyle Blanco of Garden City New York, has been named to the dean’s list in the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business for outstanding scholarship during the Fall 2009 semester.

Students who achieve dean’s honors art Notre Dame represent the top 30 percent of students in their college.

Kyle, a 2008 graduate of Chaminade High School is the son of Kathleen and Bruce Blanco.

The names of 762 Lafayette College students who have been named to the Dean;s List were recently announced by Hannah Stewart-Gambino, dean of the college. Each of the students has archived at least a 3.60 semester grade point average out of a possible 4.0.

Fairfield University, a comprehensive Jesuit university in Fairfield, Conn., challenges its students to lead inspired lives of leadership and service. To be selected for the Dean’s List, a student must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5, of a possible 4.0.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, undergraduate students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 semester hours or more.

Melissa Stepanian of Garden City graduated with a Master of business administration in Curriculum Development & Instructional Technology (MS) from the University at Albany.

During its Winter Commencement on Dec. 6, the University awarded 536 bachelor’s degrees and 553 graduate degrees, including 364 master’s and 120 doctoral degrees. Psychology and history were the top majors for undergraduate degree candidates. The graduating class became part of the global network of more than 147,000 living alumni.

Farmingdale State College is pleased to announce that for the Fall 2009 semester, Ralph Terysen, of Garden City has achieved a grade point average over 3.30 earning inclusion on the Deans’ List.

Each student receives a letter of commendation and congratulation from their college dean.
