Mayor@gardencityny.net LOCAL LAW - SOLICITATIONS

The Village’s solicitation law prohibits all unwanted commercial solicitations and distributions on all private residential property in the Village and prohibits non-commercial solicitations and distributions on private property to the extent desired by the resident. This law was designed to protect residents from unwanted invasions of their privacy.

Any resident requesting not to be solicited should complete a “Notice of Objection” form at the Village Hall. Presently, the Board has authorized certain groups to solicit door-to-door in the Village. As of this writing the only groups that have permission to solicit are; the New York Youth Club, (Their permit has been issued for the following dates: Saturday, February 23rd, Saturday, April 26th, Saturday, June 21st, Saturday, August 23rd and Saturday, October 25th, Garden City Community Church, soliciting funds or canned goods on Saturday, February 27, 2010, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 12 noon, in front of Kings and Key Food Supermarkets. The church is donating the funds to the people of Haiti. The Board has also renewed the long-standing agreement for the tool grinding services of Messrs. Anthony and Nicholas Sampogna throughout the Village for the calendar year 2010.

SANITATION COLLECTION - PRESIDENT’S DAY

Village offices will be closed on Monday, February 15, 2010 for President’s Day. For your convenience, correspondence for the Village may be placed in the “Letter” drop slot at the front door.

There will be no Regular Garbage and Recycling Pickup on President’s Day, Monday, February 15th and there will be no Rubbish pickup on Wednesday, February 17, 2010.

The schedule for the holiday week will be as follows:

Garbage Rubbish

Western Half of Village Tuesday & Thursday Wed., Feb. 24

(West of Rockaway Ave.)

Eastern Half of Village Wednesday & Friday Wed., Feb. 24

(East of Rockaway Ave.)

Residents scheduled for recycling on Monday, February 15, 2010 are asked to put their recyclables out on Monday, February 22nd. All other recycling days will remain the same. Rubbish collection has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 24, 2010.

I would like to remind you that the Board of Trustees will be conducting work sessions to review the proposed 2010/11 Operating/Capital Budgets on:

(Budget Work Session 2 - Board Review)

Wednesday March 3, 2010 7:00 p.m.

(Final Budget Work Session)

These sessions are currently scheduled to be held in the Board Room at Village Hall, 351 Stewart Avenue, Garden City, New York.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES’ MEETING SCHEDULE
