A group of women all wore red hats to the Tea. Chari-Tea was the theme of the recent Annual Ladies Tea at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Over 100 women from Resurrection, their friends and family enjoyed an afternoon filled with fine food, entertainment and warm conversation.

Women demonstrated Chari-Tea by bringing non-perishable foods to donate to the food pantry at the New Life Center in Grace Lutheran Church in Uniondale. Later in the afternoon, Don O’Neill, Director of New Life Center Services, addressed the crowd. Mr. O’Neill told the assembly about the increasing number of families served at the food pantry and the need for additional donations. The New Life Center also provides layettes containing baby clothing and supplies to new mothers in need. A free day at Disney World can be earned by families willing to hold a food drive or layette collection for the New Life Center. A plaque honoring Resurrection’s continued commitment to assisting the New Life Center was presented to Pastor Jeffrey Browning during the event which raised additional funds for the food pantry.

Not only did the women savor a variety of delicious sandwiches and desserts, they also had the opportunity to hear Legacy, a group of Gospel singers. The talented group from Bethlehem Assembly of God in Valley Stream shared their beautiful renditions of many traditional hymns, interspersed with words of encouragement.
