Garden City’s Cub Pack 55 celebrated the 57th anniversary of Scouting’s Pinewood Derby Racing with its own, jam-packed, fun-filled, day-long event at the renowned Cathedral of the Incarnation’s Cathedral House meeting hall.
In addition to racing their hand-built wooden cars, the 6-10 year old cub scouts also took time out from the competition to prepare meals to feed the needy and homeless as part of Pack 55’s ongoing series of public and community service projects.
Nearly 100 scouts and their brothers & sisters, participated in one of six race categories, based on the five cub scouting ranks, and one for siblings. In addition to awards for the fastest car in each race, contestants also were judged by their peers on the best and most original car designs per category.
