Close games are nothing unusual for Garden City’s girls basketball team and the game against South Side on January 29th was no exception. After the Cyclones tied the game at 42 with 11 seconds left it was up to the talented players of Garden City to try and add another win to their 7-1 record.
With four seconds left, Barbara Sullivan hit a layup off an assist from Diana Leondis giving the Trojans the 44-42 victory, extending the Trojans conference record to 8-1. Also scoring in the win for GC were: Diana Leondis (14), Kim Ryan (14), Barbara Sullivan (11) and Amalia Debrosse (5). Christina Mangels had 11 rebounds. GC has been at the top of their conference for most, if not all, of the season and will host an opening round playoff game on Thursday February 11th at 6pm.
