Driscoll Continues To Play Well For Pomfret
The Boys traveled to Hyde today and like a Tale of Two Cities, “It was the worst of times; it was the best of times. The worst of times saw us turn the ball over on 7 of our first 11 possessions, as we fell behind quickly, 25-7. Joe Ferro hit some big shots to help get us going and Miller Staten, Chris Alves, Leo Driscoll, JJ Ahmed and Matt Bourdeau came into the game at different points in the half and all contributed positively as we chipped away and cut Hyde’s lead to 10. Driscoll (Garden City resident), Ferro and Bell all hit 3 pointers late in the half that helped get us back in the game, but the momentum seemed to shift on Ferro’s dunk down the lane to close out the 1st half. His teammates seemed to draw energy from the play and though we were down 10, 37 - 27, at the half we seemed to have the momentum.
After a slight tirade by the head coach at the half the team responded and began to truly compete. We began to box-out, play defense, and effectively run our offense and it seemed like the best of times. As Ferro carried the offense in the first half with 15, Bell asserted himself in the second half and poured in 16 including the game clinching free throw after grabbing a huge offensive rebound. There were many big plays down the stretch including some big rebounds by Danny Gagnon, a big 3 pointer by Driscoll to put us in the lead for the first time, a hustle steal by Andrew Robinson and a huge steal on an inbounds play by Mike Stickles. The final score was 61 - 57 Pomfret.

Pomfret hit the road last week to take on a very good Suffield team and fell by a score of 91-73. The team fought hard to the end. Leo Driscoll scored a season high 17 points, hitting 5 three-pointers, four of them in a 3 minute stretch in the 2nd half that cut the lead to single digits. Driscoll has been shooting the ball well this season and recently hit 3 three-pointers against Tabor and 2 three’s against Deerfield.
