Garden City Places Third In Division

      This past weekend the varsity swim team competed in their Division championships at the Aquatic Center. The boys finished with an impressive third place finish. In one of the most exciting races of the day, Joe Lozano an eighth grade student won the 200 IM, just hundredths of a second ahead of his competition.

Father Daughter Sports Night At St. Anne’s
      On the last Friday of January, the beloved tradition continues at St. Anne’s where dads join their daughters in an active night out. They say a dad will do anything for his daughter and this might include coming home from work and scooting on their hands playing crab soccer. Of course in some cases, the dads were having more fun than the kids!

Girls Varsity Basketball
      Close games are nothing unusual for Garden City’s girls basketball team and the game against South Side on January 29th was no exception. After the Cyclones tied the game at 42 with 11 seconds left it was up to the talented players of Garden City to try and add another win to their 7-1 record.

      The Boys traveled to Hyde today and like a Tale of Two Cities, “It was the worst of times; it was the best of times. The worst of times saw us turn the ball over on 7 of our first 11 possessions, as we fell behind quickly, 25-7.

      The Garden City girl’s team sprinted into the championship leg of their season with a rousing victory at the Millrose Games in the inaugural 4x800 invitational run at Madison Square Garden.

Conference Champs - Girls Varsity Track
      The girl’s varsity track team captured another conference championship on Sunday at St. Anthony’s. Coaches Fregosi, Skrivanek and Lucas brought out one of the deeper and well rounded teams in the past few years and literally ran away from the competition.

Adelphi Golf Classic To Support Athletic Scholarships
      Allstate agent Dick McKenna of Roslyn will be the honoree at Adelphi University’s 22nd Annual Golf Classic, which raises money for student athletic scholarships. The 2010 Golf Classic, sponsored by Allstate, will be held on October 4 at the Hempstead Golf and Country Club in Hempstead.
