Catholic Schools Week Opens At St. Joseph School
Altar Servers Tony and Nora Bennett and Maggie White lead the faculty and staff into Mass
The national theme for Catholic Schools Week 2010, “Dividends for Life”, seemed to be a natural extension of the “Advantage for Life” campaign St. Joseph School has running for several years now, and Sunday, January 31st, 2010 marked the opening of Catholic Schools Week, a week-long celebration of choosing Catholic Education. The celebration kicked off at the 9AM Mass, where various members of the St. Joseph School family participated in several roles and continued in the gym with a light breakfast and a chance to mingle with the faculty. After the refreshments, school families were invited to tour their student’s classroom and perspective parents gathered for continuous guided tours of the school while each grade level offered a skit or activity or demonstration using the smart boards or various Science or Computer Labs. The exciting new Pathways elective program for grades 6 - 8 was on display in the library giving brief overviews on the Latin, Legal, Financial, Medical, Chess and Shakespearean electives, just to name a few. Students spoke after every Mass on why they feel Catholic Education was an advantage for them. Registration for current school families is February 5th. Open registration for new families will begin on February 10th. For more information on registration, please contact Dr. Eileen Kilbride at 747-2730. More information on St. Joseph School can be obtained at www.advantageforlife.org. Thanks to all our local friends who continually support our fundraising efforts.
