Winthrop Hosts “Dance Your Health Out”
Do you want to dance? As part of a national initiative by Spirit of Women(r) to promote heart health, Winthrop-University Hospital is inviting the community to “Dance Your Health Out” on Saturday, February 27, 2010. The free program will be held at Winthrop’s Community Outreach Center, located at 101 Mineola Boulevard at the corner of Second Street in Mineola. Held from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the event will feature group dancing, dancing demonstrations, Karaoke by Winthrop staff, health screenings, educational information, and activities for children.
“Heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women, and it’s never too early or too late to learn tips on heart health. It is our hope that people of all ages - from young women and men to families with children and retirees - will take time out of their busy schedules to have some fun while they are learning more about the prevention of heart disease,” said Deborah Johnson-Schiff, RN, BSN, CNN, Senior Vice President of Winthrop. “We plan on having activities run throughout the day, so people should feel free to stay for as little or as long as their time will allow.”
“Day of Dance(r) for Health” is powered by Spirit of Women, a national network of hospitals and healthcare providers across the United States that ascribe to the highest standards of excellence in women’s health, education and community outreach.
The event is free, but pre-registration is required. Please call 1-866-WINTHROP for further information or to register.
