The Garden City Retired Men’s Club is a non-profit membership organization formed in April 1961 for the purpose of providing educational and recreational activities for the retired male senior citizens of the Garden City Community. The organization is non-sectarian and non-political.

All retired men 55 years or older residing in the Incorporated Village of Garden City, in the state of New York are eligible for membership upon paying a five (5) dollar initiation fee. If you are eligible and interested in joining us, please come by. Every Monday is Open House. Or call Joe Leto at 248-9022.

The Club House facility is located at No. 6 Golf Club Lane (directly behind Lord & Taylor parking lot). The building is open every day of the week, except Friday, and offers two regulation size pool tables, television, cards/table board games as well as outdoor bocce, horseshoes and shuffleboard. Our Program Committee is planning a very active speaker program. You are invited to join us!

A Menu Change??

Rudy Kaiser and Gary Metzler have come up with an exciting menu change for our Monday February 15th In-House Party. We will be serving Oriental style, including fried rice, chicken w/broccoli, pepper steak w/onion, mixed Chinese vegetables, crab meat w/cheese and spinach w/cheese. Same In-House price $7.00 plus $2.00 for lucky bucks. You must come and try this fabulous treat!

Our speaker is Grace Rowan, MSN, RN, Community Outreach Educator at Winthrop. Her topic is “Fall Prevention.” Falls are a major threat to the health and independence of older adults. Statistics show that one in three adults age 65 and older fall each year; of those who fall 20% to 30% suffer moderate to severe injuries and many of those never fully recover Miss Rowan will provide tips on how you can reduce your risk of falls Women are cordially invited.

Proper exercise is the best thing you can o for yourself. Felicia still stands ready to tone your muscles and put a little spring in your step. Twice a day, three times a week. Felicia, we can’t thank you enough. Join her any Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:15 or 10:30 AM. Classes are free and the exercise is great.

Another great way to exercise ... Bowling ... Come bowl with us at Herrill Lanes any Friday at 12:45 p.m. If you care to join us, call Ron Zwicke at 747-6842. You will be happy with the results.
