(missing: Jonathan Warhurst & Nick Diglio) The Garden City Community Church Youth Group is preparing for the World Vision 30-Hour Famine to be held at the end of February. Now in its 19th year, the Famine raises awareness and money to fight hunger both overseas and nationally. During the 30 hours, teens will do the Famine by going without food to experience what the poorest children and families face every day. They will join approximately 500,000 teens in the United States to raise more than $12 million to fight world hunger. This year, the funds will be donated to relief in Haiti. For every $30 they raise it will care for a child for a month.

The teens will be fundraising throughout Garden City and completing service projects at the Garden City Bird Sanctuary and in the community. Money donations and canned goods from Garden City residents will also be accepted at the Garden City Community Church on Saturday, February 27th between 11 am and 1 pm. The canned goods will be given directly to the LICC (Long Island Council of Churches) to help feed the hungry here on Long Island. The Garden City Community Church is located on the corner of Stewart Avenue and Whitehall Boulevard.

Since 1992, 30 Hour Famine has raised more than $118 million, representing countless saved lives. World Vision works in 100 countries, helping approximately 100 million people every year.
