Dr. Karyn Carlo The Church-in-the-Garden is pleased to welcome Dr. Karyn Carlo as its new Interim Pastor. Dr. Carlo is a retired police captain with the New York City Police Department who has turned preacher, Bible teacher and theologian. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the New School of Social Research where she majored in psychology. She received her Master or Divinity and PhD. Degree from Union Theological Seminary.

In her former career and through her experience, Dr. Carlo has witnessed much violence and brokeness in the world, but believes in God’s world, she has found reason for hope and is “on fire” to share it with others.

The Church-in-the-Garden, is an American Baptist Church on the corner of Stewart Avenue, Clinton Road and Osborne Road in Garden City, and in 2010 will be celebrating its 65th anniversary.
