Florence Freda, Co-Chairman of the Americanism/Current Events department of the Community Club, and the speaker at the program, Laura Frezza-Chiarello. “Laura Frezza-Chiarello, the owner of West & Stannish Opticians and a long time Garden City resident, entertained a large audience at the meeting of the Community Club on January 13th. Her talk was followed by a lively question and answer session, covering such questions as “What is the difference between an Optician and an Optometrist?” (Opticians have more education and are more proficient).

Mrs. Frezza-Chiarello’s talk covered a wide range of subjects from the effect of colors on your reaction to people and places to the use of colored lenses a therapeutic tool. The artist Renoir had an eye disease and is quoted as reporting “I now have yellow glasses and I am painting again.”š
