Hofstra University students in collaboration with VITA will offer free tax preparation assistance on the lower level of The Garden City Public Library between 1:30 and 4:30 PM on the following Sundays: Sunday, January 31st , Sundays, February 21st & 28th; Sundays, March 7th , 14th , 21st , & 28th, and Sunday, April 11th. This service is open to all age groups. Bring all necessary documents, including last year’s tax return. Register the same day in person.

Tax Forms Available at Library and Online Through Library Website

With the tax season beginning, the Garden City Public Library would like to remind residents that many federal and state forms and publications are available in the reference area of the Garden City Public Library. In addition patrons can access forms at the OPAC computers in the reference area as well as online through the Garden City Library website at www.gardencitypl.org.

Patrons can access tax forms 24/7 from their home or office by clicking on the link for “tax forms” on the Library’s homepage. For Federal tax forms, patrons will be directed through the tax form link to the IRS website www.irs.gov where they can print the necessary forms or instructions. For New York State forms, patrons will be directed to www.tax.state.ny.us. Both sites also have information related to electronic filing as well as the answers to frequently asked questions.
