Kate Murray To Speak At Chamber’s Kick-Off Luncheon

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray The Garden City Chamber of Commerce will welcome Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray as keynote speaker at its 2010 kick-off luncheon next Thursday, January 28, noon, at the Garden City Hotel. Supervisor Murray will bring members and guests up to date on “The Development of Business in Hempstead Town.” Also addressed will be the “Lighthouse Project, the Light Rail Third Track, the development of homes in East Garden City and beyond as well as other pertinent topics.

As the supervisor of America’s largest township, Kate Murray has worked diligently to earn our town the highest Wall Street credit ratings of any town of county on Long island. Friends and neighbors across Hempstead Town have expressed their enthusiasm about enhanced services, topnotch programs and renovated facilities that continue to ensure the finest quality-of-life experience anywhere.

Supervisor Murray has is known to have dedicated herself to gimmick-free, transparent budgeting, winning the Murray administration two consecutive “excellence in financial reporting awards” from the non-partisan Government Finance Officers Association.

As supervisor, Kate Murray serves as the chief executive officer of town government. She presides at all town board meetings, directing their legislative and administrative functions. As supervisor, she also oversees the day-to-day operations of a municipal government of 24 departments, employing just under 2,000 people, and providing services to some 765,234 residents. As chief financial officer of the township, Kate Murray is responsible for the creation and the implementation of a 2010 budget of $386.1 million.
