Library Invites Teens to Read Nominated Books
Teens throughout New York State have the opportunity to participate in honoring their favorite books. The Teen 3 Apples Book Award, a true Teen’s Choice Award, has been developed to encourage the joy of reading for pleasure. It is co-sponsored by the Youth Services and School Library Media Sections of the New York Library Association, which together represent the public and school libraries of the state. Each year teens in grades 7 - 12 nominate their favorite book, creating a statewide ballot of fifteen of the most popular titles.
Garden City teens can visit the Library to check out the nominated titles, some of which are on display outside the Young Adult Department. After reading or listening to the titles, teens are invited to vote at the Library beginning April 1st until April 20th.The winner of The Teen 3 Apples Award, a New York State Teen’s Choice Award, will be announced on May 20th, 2010.
