Cathedral Book Club Announces Next Meeting

2010-01-22 / Community

The Cathedral of the Incarnation’s Book Club has selected Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana by Anne Rice for discussion at its next meeting. This book images the “lost” young adulthood of Jesus offering wise and haunting speculation where the Bible is silent. The final chapters pick up with the New Testament’s accounts of Jesus’ baptism, temptation and early miracles which manage to be soulfully insightful even while faithfully tracking the Gospels. The author gives the mystery of the Incarnation in such a way that, while remaining a mystery, is accessible to all with a depth of scholarship and faith that easily merges into the joy of discovery. The book club will meet on Monday, February 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Christian Formation Room located in the Cathedral House at 50 Cathedral Avenue. Upcoming selections for the club include Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory and Glittering Images by Susan Howatch. All are welcome to join the book club regardless of their religious affiliation. For further information please contact Deacon Connie Lorenz at dea_con@juno.com or through the church office at 746-2955.
