The Garden City Student Aid and Scholarship Fund is again sponsoring an afternoon of great entertainment for children and adults by bringing the popular basketball troop, the Harlem Wizards, to town on Saturday, February 6. Previous appearances by the Wizards in Garden City have been sold out events.

The Wizards will display their repertoire of playing skills and comic antics against a select group of Garden City teachers. Competition among teachers to appear on the Garden City team is intense! Announcement of the teacher team roster will be made next week.

Game day will also have refreshments and souvenirs for sale, a half-time show that features audience participation and a 50-50 raffle. Doors will open at noon for the 1:00 p.m. game time.

Tickets can be ordered through the flyers delivered to the primary and elementary schools. The price is $10.00 in advance or $15.00 at the door. Since this has been a sold out event in the past, tickets may not be available at the door. To order tickets by mail, please send your name, phone number and number of tickets ordered along with a check payable to “The Garden City Student Aid and Scholarship Fund” to Marian Mancusi, 189 Wetherill Avenue, Garden City, NY 11530. Tickets ordered by mail will be available for pick up at the “will call” desk at the event.

The Garden City Students Aid and Scholarship Fund is a not-for-profit corporation that provides scholarships and loans to Garden City High School graduates. All proceeds from the event will be used to further its ability to assist deserving students to finance higher education.
