PRESCHOOL ARTS AND CRAFTS REGISTRATION

The second session of the Recreation Department's Preschool Arts and Crafts program will begin the week of January 10. This five week program is open to children ages 3 1/2 to 5 years old who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The program will be of-fered on the following days and times:

Tuesdays Noon to 12:45 pm

Thursdays 12:15 to 1 pm

The cost of this session will be $25. to register, please visit the Recrea-tion Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue.

REGISTRATION FOR SWIM LESSONS AT ADELPHI BEGINS

The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting Children's swimming lessons for Village residents at the Adelphi University Swimming Pool in Woodruff Hall on Saturday mornings. Your child must be six years of age by the start of the program to participate. The classes will begin Saturday, January 9, 2010. Classes are taught by Red Cross Certified Instructors. The cost is $50.00. To register, please mail this form and a check to the Recreation Department at 108 Rockaway Ave. Walk in registrations will not be ac-cepted until January 6th.

Level 1 - Introduction to Water Skills

Level 2 - for children who have taken a lesson but need to learn fundamental skills

Level 3 - will build on fundamental skills by providing guided practices

Level 4 - Develops confidence in the strokes learned and improve other aquatic skills

Level 5 - Provides further coordi-nation and refinement of strokes

Level 6P - Personal Water Safety - for children who has level 5 - stresses survival floating, treading water, swimming in clothes, etc.

Level 6F - Water Fitness - must have passed level 5- sessions will cover learning training techniques, how to use fins, kickboards, pace, clock, etc.

Adult Tennis Lesson

Adult Tennis Lesson Registration for the Winter has now started. Classes are held at the Community Park Tennis Facility. Our ten week, one hour class will cost $199 and will start in January.

Our Recreation Department offers les-sons for adults in all ability levels. In order to create sessions geared to the needs of our residents, we are ask-ing any adult who is a resident in the Inc. Village of Garden City and is in-terested in our tennis lessons to visit our Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue and fill out an interest form. Classes will then be made by grouping people of similar abilities according to the dates they are available.

This form and the registration fee of $199 is due in the office by 12/30/09.

The Garden City Pool is pleased to announce the dates for Pool Employment Interviews for the 2010 season. These interviews are open to people who are currently High School Seniors and older. All potential Pool Staff whether new or previously employed by the pool, must make an appointment for an inter-view. The interview dates are as follows:

Monday, January 11, 2010 - 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Any one that is interested in an interview is encouraged to call the Recreation Office at 465-4075 to sched-ule their appointment. Applications, which must be brought to the interview, are available in the Recreation Office.

Saturday Men's Basketball is cancelled for Saturday, January 2nd due to the Middle School's holiday closing. The program will resume on January 9th.

The Recreation Adult Programs in the Field House begin on Tuesday, October 13th, according to the following schedule:

These programs are open to residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City who have graduated high school. All programs listed are free of charge and strictly “pick up.”

Any resident wishing to participate must show their license each week in addition to signing in. A non resident guest may play but must be accompanied by a resident to enter.
