ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION
Group, a free self-help group for anxiety, panic disorder, depression, OCD and other nervous fears now meets every Thursdays at 8 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church, corner of Chester Ave. and New Hyde Park Rd, in Garden City. Through the Recovery International process, members learn to manage stress, panic, anxiety, depression, anger, irrational fears, phobias, compulsions, obsessions and other emotional or behavioral problems. Members also learn how to face and manage psychosomatic symptoms such as heart palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, sweats, fatigue, headaches, numbness, chest pressure and sleep problems. All group leaders are trained lay volunteers who have experienced some type of difficulty with an emotional problem and practice the Recovery International method of self-help. POLICE REPORT: MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM:
ON DECEMBER 23, a clerk at the T Mobile store on Old Country Road, observed a male running from the store and later found a $400 cell phone missing... On the same day, burglars took over $12,000 in cameras, mostly the Nikon and Panasonic brands, at Neptune Photo, Seventh Street... PO FLORIO ARRESTED a 31-year-old female for alleged petit larceny at Lord and Taylor, on December 23 at 4:15 p.m. After the female allegedly was caught with three cashmere sweaters, 1 scarf and one pair of shorts, she allegedly kicked a desk in the security’s office, and was also charged with criminal mischief... On December 25, 7:43 p.m., a 19-year-old GC female allegedly hit a parked car, while she drove down Kildare Road. She was charged with alleged DWI and expired insurance... ON DECEMBER 23, a burglary occurred at Garden Street and an investigation continues regarding two possible suspects described as black men in the area at the time. A $2500 Apple computer was found stolen... BETWEEN DECEMBER 22 and 23, a 2008 Toyota was rummaged through although nothing was taken. The same thing occurred twice at Kingsbury Road during the same period of time... ON DECEMBER 22, a $20 pocketbook was taken at Pay/half, Franklin Avenue. The bag contained a whopping $800 in cash... Between December 21 and 22, someone damaged two 2’x4’ windows at a waiting station at Nassau Boulevard... ON DECEMBER 14, PO Fracassa arrested a 29-year-old Uniondale man after Lord and Taylor security caught him allegedly running from the store with 3 Ralph Lauren coats. The thief was also charged with criminal mischief because the merchandise was damaged after the sensor tags were removed with pliers... ON DECEMBER 13, PO Tuohy arrested a 46-year-old West Hempstead man after he allegedly decided to do his holiday shoplifting at Sears. The man allegedly took everything holiday including a digital camcorder, video album, and other Christmas items... ON DECEMBER 22, 8 p.m., PO Fracassa arrested a 24-year-old Elmont male for 3 counts of assault (felony), the criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and for criminal mischief (felony), after he allegedly entered the Waterzooi Restaurant, Franklin Avenue, and threw a glass from a table there at his girlfriend, causing a laceration on her eye. He allegedly also then threw another glass at a $5500 window , breaking it, which caused lacerations to two other people...
FIRE RESPONSES:
FD SHUT OFF GAS at 190 Seventh Street on December 22 after an odor was detected coming from one of 3 kitchen appliances there... FIREMEN USED speedidry to clean after an accident on December 23... ANOTHER ACCIDENT occurred at Kildare Rd. on December 25 and more cleanup was done... ON DECEMBER 27, an outlet had melted at a Beech Street residence and firemen took care of that situation...
